      If I can be serious, his 15 minutes won't be up for a while because, despite his overwhelming popularity, the industry hasn't really gotten the message about What Women Want. They still think all women want frosted tips, biceps and barbed wire tattoos, despite all the evidence to the contrary. Anyone with half a brain would have a stable of James Deens right now – educated, pretty feminist, occasionally Jewish boys next door who look like they're giving head for their co-star and not just the camera – assuming, of course, any of this popularity translates into cash.

        This seems reasonable and correct to me. I wish this could be talked about in a non-piss-takey way. I've never actually seen any of this guy's porn (it's always randomers on Youporn) but I think I love him a little.

          I'm really thrilled that he's managed to get a voice in mainstream culture, because most of what he says is pretty spot-on and, I think, what a lot of rational people have been thinking for a while. I do suspect strongly, though, that his maleness has a ton to do with why he's being allowed that voice or being taken seriously at all. He may never cross over completely (nor does he seem to want to), but he's also not being treated like some sort of alien or eternal victim.

          Yep, agreed re: his maleness. Being a porn star is bad enough in the eyes of many, but being a female porn star - just that single fact of sex and occupation - is more than enough to render almost anything you say completely tainted and irrelevant. It's fucked.

        I really hate this guy because he does seem like the typical porn star guy who is very full of himself. I mean some of the things he says I actually find myself thinking... omg, people really do talk/think that way.

        He's a douchebag. I'm not denigrating the porn profession, just Mr. Deen.
