It's funny to me when Americans and Westerners speak of the oppressive regimes they live under when regimes like the DPRK exist.

This is the face of oppression, folks. Mind you, we should be fearful of our regimes possibly becoming oppressive (they can, don't doubt that), but we aren't living in truly oppressive, dictatorial societies.

Vietnam's ruling party is making it illegal to get news online. The Kim Dynasty in the DPRK has made it illegal to do anything. China's ruling party has spent possibly trillions of yuan trying to keep its people suppressed.

A Tory trying to auto-block porn with an opt out option is not even in the same league. Hell, as much as I fucking hate the NSA, it's nowhere near the same thing (look at how openly we've been able to bitch about it and how the news openly covers it.)

This is, paradoxically, why we should remain vigilant, but also sometimes be willing to relax. Relax vigilantly? Vigilantly relax? I dunno.

But seriously, fuck the Kim regime.

I agree with most of what you said, but your initial statement is crap. Are we not supposed to complain about our governments' illegal and unethical activities because somewhere in the world other people have it worse (a lot worse)?

      What is your beef here?

No, we should. But the argument that our regimes are truly oppressive is patently false. They are growing worse, but they remain relatively free and open. That doesn't mean we should say something when it's wrong, however.

"Why did the Supreme Leader cross the road? Who are we to question?"

"The Supreme Leader, Dennis Rodman, and Bill Clinton walked into a bar. The two Americans learned how to pleasure their women, and the follies of the capitalist system. They pledged their undying loyalty to the Supreme Leader. Then they left."

"You know, I don't get no respect. Last night, I was in bed with my wife, and I asked her , why she closed her eyes. 'I was thinking of the Supreme Leader' she said. 'Me, too' , I said."

Those dark jokes are very dark, but a couple toward the beginning really were quite funny.

Your attempt at subversion of the State by suggesting we "start over" has been noticed, citizen.

      Enjoy the mine.

Wow. I wonder how she became a stand-up. Was it her choice? Because that seems especially dangerous. I'm surprised they released her from her punishment the first time. Hopefully her luck holds.
